Royal Woodland First Birthday

Home/ Parties

To celebrate our son, Thayer, turning one we did a royal woodland birthday party theme. We have always enjoyed nature as a family and wanted to reflect that in his party. The magic of the forest and the beautiful creatures that roam it was the inspiration for our little prince’s big day with close friends and family.  My brother Jesse Le Vasseur did a wonderful job photographing the whole event.

How to Host a Stress-Free Messy Playdate

Family/ Home/ Parties/ Toddler

Thank you Brawny® Tear-A-Square® for sponsoring this post. Think of all the ways you can “Put a Square There”!

Having kids means encountering a LOT of messes of all types and sizes. On a normal day, my 2-year-old son is both accidentally making messes and purposely pouring cups of juice and water on the floor, or in toys, just to watch what happens. My floor is pretty much always sticky. I try to encourage this exploration and hands-on learning to an extent, so I decided to host a messy playdate with some local mom’s group mamas. Giving toddlers, babies, and big kids an opportunity to make a huge mess within a safe space fosters learning, exploration, and fun without added stress on the parents! So how do you host one? My Modern Bohemian Mother Blessing

Being Mama/ Home/ Parties/ Pregnancy

Family and friends were a bit confused when they heard that I was having a mother blessing instead of a sprinkle or baby shower to celebrate my third pregnancy. I got a lot of confused, “What is that?!” responses even after explaining it to them. But I knew a mother blessing was definitely the right choice for this pregnancy and after attending, my friends and family agreed. Read more

Pink & Gold Ballerina-Themed First Birthday

Home/ Parties

My sweet baby girl turned one a few months ago and I’m still in denial that it happened. Time just flew by so fast! It feels like I was in the hospital holding my little baby girl in my arms just yesterday. How did a year creep up so fast?! When it came time to start planning her first birthday, I wanted to make sure it was two things: Pink and girly! After many hours on Pinterest, I decided on a ballerina theme! I chose Pink with Gold accents for the colors, and I have to say it turned out so beautiful— Exactly what I envisioned. Read more

A Peachy Floral First Birthday Party

At first, my ideas were everywhere while planning my daughter Blakely’s first birthday.  I knew I wanted to be able to repurpose most of the decorations from her party —Especially since I knew I’d  be putting some money into them — so I chose a theme that I could use in her new toddler bedroom. With a lot of planning and help, it turned into a very elegant and yet simple floral first birthday party. Read more

An Ultra-Chic LEGO Party That Doesn’t Break the Bank

Kids change their minds almost daily — Especially when it comes to the kind of birthday party they want — and my son is no exception. Spider-Man, Jake and The Neverland Pirates, Big Hero 6 . . . every time I asked him which he wanted, the party theme seemed to change. Finally, my son and I settled on a 3rd bday theme he didn’t change his mind on – LEGO! He loves The LEGO Movie and has been putting LEGO sets together so the theme stuck long enough that I could have the party. Keep reading to see how this ultra-chic LEGO-themed birthday party came together without breaking the bank! Read more
