To celebrate our son, Thayer, turning one we did a royal woodland birthday party theme. We have always enjoyed nature as a family and wanted to reflect that in his party. The magic of the forest and the beautiful creatures that roam it was the inspiration for our little prince’s big day with close friends and family. My brother Jesse Le Vasseur did a wonderful job photographing the whole event.

Having kids means encountering a LOT of messes of all types and sizes. On a normal day, my 2-year-old son is both accidentally making messes and purposely pouring cups of juice and water on the floor, or in toys, just to watch what happens. My floor is pretty much always sticky. I try to encourage this exploration and hands-on learning to an extent, so I decided to host a messy playdate with some local mom’s group mamas. Giving toddlers, babies, and big kids an opportunity to make a huge mess within a safe space fosters learning, exploration, and fun without added stress on the parents! So how do you host one? Family and friends were a bit confused when they heard that I was having a mother blessing instead of a sprinkle or baby shower to celebrate my third baby. I got a lot of confused, “What is that?!” responses even after explaining it to them. But I knew a mother blessing was definitely the right choice for this pregnancy and after attending, my friends and family agreed. Read more

At first, my ideas were everywhere while planning my daughter Blakely’s first birthday. I knew I wanted to be able to repurpose most of the decorations from her party —Especially since I knew I’d be putting some money into them — so I chose a theme that I could use in her new toddler bedroom. With a lot of planning and help, it turned into a very elegant and yet simple floral first birthday party. Read more
