I’m more than halfway through this pregnancy now and in complete nesting mode — whiteboard filled with home project lists and all! #ad One of the more significant projects we’ve been working on recently has been finding the right spot for our new @firstalert alarms to ensure our home is safe! Did you know that smoke and carbon monoxide alarm batteries should be replaced every six months and the alarm itself should be replaced at least every ten years?

We upgraded to @firstalert 10-Year Sealed Battery Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm for convenient home protection (this equals way less pregnancy anxiety), and now, we just need to install alarms on every level and in every bedroom of our home. #TimeToReplace #FirstAlert

Do you have a breast pump story? #ad I remember scrambling to request a pump from my insurance due to breast pain after the birth of my now 2-YO kiddo . . . then the only pump they offered me arrived too late and I had no clue how to use it.

This time around I made sure I had a pump BEFORE birth thanks to @thebreastfeedingshop! It’s easy to order via the phone or laptop and they handle all the work with your insurance company 🥰 All you need to do is enjoy looking through their articles to learn more about the different types of pumps and pick out the pump that you prefer from their vast options! I picked the Spectra Synergy Gold (it just arrived 🎉) and am super excited to learn more about how it works now while I’m still preggo rather than later when I may be in crisis mode.

Share your secret to getting stuff done with the kids around!

Getting work done with kids requires a lot of flexibility 😅 Thankfully, my @lenovous Chromebook from @costco can adapt to my surroundings - making it easy to get work done on a laptop or tablet while in the middle of a park rock climbing session. So my tip? Get some versatile equipment... and take the kids to play 😂 (paying attention, of course).

What’s one thing you wish you knew or want to know about postpartum doulas?

One thing I wish more families knew is how valuable it is to have one- especially during the day! I’m a daytime only postpartum doula because for me, the best part of being a doula is noticing X, Y or Z, helping with recommendations, interacting with the whole family, listening to the parents’ needs, and helping relieve any anxiety or stress surrounding anything household chores, appointments, post-birth healing, feelings, or baby. Each family is unique! One might need help even holding their baby or getting in the car. Another might need referrals, and another might have had several kiddos but never encountered THIS before so they’re glad I’m there to help.

Throwback to 39 weeks with Nora. I’m almost 16 weeks in this last pregnancy and feel this big already 😂 Anyone else feeling the same? But I’m actually at that fun stage of pregnancy where it looks like you may have a beer belly because the pregnancy belly isn’t quite there. You know, when the awkwardness level reminds you of middle school/junior high 😅.

We hold a lot of expectations as parents. We don’t mean to... but it happens ... starting in pregnancy (what the birth will be like, what baby will be like, the gender). One of mine that I didn’t realize was one until we opened up this cute little picnic set from our @lovevery Kit was that I would get to sit and have pretend tea and picnic with my kids. I love doing stuff like this and I’m grateful each one has wanted these memories too. Cheers! #loveverypartner

I don’t put a spotlight on my 4-YO being on the

I don’t put a spotlight on my 4-YO being on the spectrum because I see him as another 4-YO and strongly believe that all kids are different and unique individuals with their own way of thinking and doing things. But, he can be very different sometimes, and then I have to explain why. And once people hear he is on the spectrum they assume he acts a certain way, reacts a certain way, IS whatever they’ve seen on Google about Autism or like whoever they’ve seen before. It never fails, whether it’s an expert, family member or stranger... so I remind people he is a unique person- he is not that kid or this one, he is not what you read about. All of the books and research, etc. are still helpful because like with any kid in a certain age range or with a commonality, there are many things that resonate across the board, but the assumption of knowing who he is or how he will be before meeting him and learning who he is? That’s ignorant. If there’s one thing I’d like to share today to start off #worldautismawarenessday, it’s that. Dig deep for empathy. Check your assumptions. We all have them about one thing or another and it’s through open-minded learning that they evolve. ❤️
