Sometimes there’s simply way too much to get done in a single day when you’re a parent. There’s the laundry, home maintenance, car maintenance, work, kids, your partner, yourself . . . everything needs attention and there’s never enough time. Usually, something gives and you excel in one area and a few others really suffer. I’m no pro at the balancing act myself, but I have picked up a few tips that help tremendously. Read more

Kids and tech can be a touchy subject for a lot of parents. I didn’t allow my daughter, S, to watch shows/have screen time until she was about 2-years-old. But let me tell you, it’s been a huge part of our lives since then. So much so, that now that she’s a big first grader, she has a special new tablet of her own and I wish I’d gotten it for her sooner. You’re not going to believe the reasons why. Read more

When you’re breastfeeding there’s a natural system in place to help you lose the baby weight, but remembering to stay active during your day gets harder each day. Remembering when it’s time to feed the baby (bottle or breastmilk), take a pill or get up and play outside with the kiddo can get lost in the shuffle of a hectic day, too. Sometimes when the kiddo finally falls asleep it’s on your arm and you know you can’t move an inch or nap time is all done so you get in the habit of vegging out. After getting through the toddler and baby years it wasn’t until my kiddo was 4 that I realized I had waited too long to make active, healthy living a party of my day, too. I found the LEAF by Bellabeat online and reached out to them about testing it out. I’m so glad I did. I’ve watched as friends and family bought other activity trackers and none of them really felt like a fit for me until this one. Read more
I’m not an extreme couponer, but I am an extreme discounter. Instead, I use discount apps, discount codes and look for all available deals I can find. One of the newest savings apps I’ve learned about allows you to pass savings from one user to another using a ripple effect, instantly. About 8 years ago my cousins visited for Thanksgiving and we all headed out to shop at a nearby outlet center on Black Friday. My mom, sister and I have continued this shopping tradition, but we haven’t been able to see my cousins on Thanksgiving weekend since . . . until this Thanksgiving weekend. Just as I was considering an impromptu visit to my cousins in Southern California, they told me that they planned to drive up on Black Friday for a visit! Normally when we all drive down to my cousins’ homes or they drive up to see us we spend a lot of time calling and texting one another to get location updates but since they planned to travel on Black Friday (while the rest of us would be busy shopping) we looked for some handy alternatives and found an app called Life360. (It’s a free app available for Android, Windows and Apple/ios products that helps families and friends stay connected.) Read more
