What It’s Like to Meet Oakland Raider Marcel Reece

There’s a lot going on this time of year between all the holidays, family gatherings and of course, game day. So it’s always important to get things prepared a bit with some pre-season shopping. I headed over to Nob Hill Foods in Alameda on Monday to do just that, and meet Oakland Raiders Fullback Marcel Reece (number 45) who was there with Proctor & Gamble (P&G) to greet shoppers and sign items. Keep reading for a full look at the event, and to enter my P&G Prize Pack Giveaway!
Marcel Reece teamed up with P&G to share ways people can get ready for game day by chatting with fans and signing footballs and pictures. Nob Hill Foods shoppers who spent $25 or more that day got a free mini NFL football! Several P&G staff passed out samples of Tide, Crest, Pantene and Gain then offered shoppers the chance to spin a wheel to win more fun items. I picked up a few samples I’ve been wanting to try and took S over to meet Marcel and get our official NFL mini football signed. She fell asleep just before we got to the store (it was a 45 minute or so drive) so she was a little grumpy and shy but Marcel was so sweet to her. This was S’ first time meeting a football player so even though she started out with a bad attitude it was so great that Marcel was positive and able to show her how neat it is to meet a football player.
I honestly am such a bad football fan because I didn’t know much about Marcel before meeting him. But, I left knowing he must be an amazing dad (like better than a lot of dads I’ve seen and certainly better than 85% of the adults that try to talk to my daughter thinking they know how to talk to children). There were actually a lot of kids in line to see Marcel Reece and one little girl was so excited to meet him that she started to cry. He gave her a big hug and let her sit next to him for a while as he signed more autographs from fans in line. I wish I had gotten a photo of it because it was such a sweet moment! Marcel was incredibly patient with all the kids . . . and us bloggers who kept coming up asking for more photos haha (see below for our group pic).
Through it all, Marcel just kept smiling. He was definitely the right football player for P&G to host at the store that day. I can’t imagine anyone nicer to come out and represent his team for all of the Nob Hill Shoppers to see. Most people would start to smile less like 15 minutes in, but Marcel Reece seemed genuinely happy to see everyone who came out to meet him, and was more than happy to sign whatever people brought in.
Seeing the giant stack of Charmin and Bounty at the event reminded me that I need to restock those two very important items in my home, but I’m also glad that I snagged a few samples for other items I haven’t tried yet!

I met him at another fundraiser event in Oakland, genuine good guy
Thank you for sharing, Ida! I agree, Marcel is such a nice person.
We celebrate with snacks and usually movies since my daughter and I do not always watch the games (unless we have friends over).
I love mother-daughter movie time, too. What are your fave snacks for this?
Game day means board games and fun. Football is not for us.
Thanks for the contest.
Thanks for entering!
We have snacks and wear our game shirts for game days ! It’s so much fun !
That sounds super fun, Amy. So glad the game brings everyone together!
My husband is wayyyy into football so he makes a huge deal every Sunday, lol. I’m always cooking up game day snacks. His fave are those little weenies in bbq sauce. We have chicken wings pretty often, too.
Thanks for entering, Stephanie! You’ll be able to get even more weenie dogs and wings if you win lol.
My family eats and watches the game
