How to Safely Bring Indoor Plants to the Family Home

Design/ Home

My grandfather put a lot of work into the floral landscape around his home. It was honestly the most beautiful home garden I’d ever seen and inspired me to try my hand at gardening. But it turns out that I’m not a very good gardener. Unless my outdoor plants are connected to a drip system they’re probably going to dry up. So instead, I keep plants inside the house! How do I do this with kids ranging from ages 1-7? Well, there are 3 ways to safely bring indoor plants to the family home. Keep reading! Read more

Why It’s OK That My Daughter Missed Spring Camp This Year

Adventure/ Art Time/ Big Kid/ Family

This post was sponsored by Amazon but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

For some, Spring Break means more sleep, family vacation or kids camp. For me, it means figuring out how to entertain my 1-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter while building my business, working on deadlines and attempting to not let the mom guilt consume me because the work seems never-ending (but I also do all of the jobs for this website and Navigating Postpartum, so there’s that). I was all set to sign Savannah up for a 4-day camp to get a little bit more time during her 2-week break from school when she protested, saying how much she hates camp. Ugh. I don’t know if it was the mom guilt or how much I love to save money . . . but I let her stay home. The good news? I learned some more reasons I’m thankful for the Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids tablet loaded with Amazon FreeTime Unlimited and that it’s OK for her to miss camp! Here are some ways the Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids tablet has helped us during the break so far, and why I’m OK with S not being at camp. Read more

5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Choosing a Childcare

This conversation is sponsored by KinderCare

I remember the dread I felt when I got my first big job after my daughter was born. I was thrilled to be chosen for such an amazing job, and so quickly, but terrified by the idea of placing my daughter in childcare. After all, where you place your child can make a huge difference in your work life AND home life. Now that she’s older and I have another little one that will need occasional care soon, I have a list of questions to ask myself that I think are important for every parent to ask before deciding on a child care provider.  Read more

My Closet’s Amazing Transformation for the New Year

Design/ Home

Before kids, I was one of those Type-A hyper-organized people who never forget a thing and went around reminding others of their own schedule. Everything in my apartment was in a certain place and super clean. After kids? I spend about 10 minutes looking for my car keys before I need to go somewhere — sometimes they’re under the ice cream in the freezer. I’m lucky if just one room in my home has some sense of organization, and to be honest, it really affects how organized or chaotic my mommy brain is at any given time. So to start the year with some sort of sanity, I’ve worked hard — OK, my husband did most of the work — to create a space just for me that can stay relatively organized and clean. Well, except for when my 11-month-old tears it apart while I attempt to shower for the day. But all-in-all this closet transformation is a win. Read more

Since I work from home and receive a lot of work-related packages in addition to things I’ve ordered for the home I can’t afford to have something stolen, so I’ve learned a few ways to prevent package theft that should help your family too.
