After what I call my 20-minute hospital birth, som After what I call my 20-minute hospital birth, something felt off. I was mobile enough to impress hospital staff but I was in a lot of pain. It felt nothing like my previous birth. I ended up going to the emergency room after being discharged because it got worse and then spent all day there nursing my brand new baby with nothing to eat or drink. They ran test after intrusive test. Had all kinds of MDs come in to consult. Do you know what their end of day conclusion was? Normal postpartum pains from a fast birth. 👀

This is the birth that forged a new path for me.

After having my oldest daughter, I started a parenting website so I trained as a birth doula during this pregnancy to learn tips for my own birth experience and to create online parent-to-be courses to replace the in-hospital style ones I had gone to. But after my traumatic postpartum experience, I decided that educating families about postpartum is where I need to be.

I trained as a postpartum doula and volunteered with @postpartumsupportinternational. I learned a little about tongue and lip ties and heard about @infantmassageusa. So, I trained in infant massage! Then when I had my now 4-YO daughter, I trained in lactation and learned a bit more about ties and development. I had Wes (3rd tie revised baby) in 2021 and learned more about myo and trained in CST (baby-led sleep in the works). It has all kind of snowballed because it’s all connected. And it all started with this birth.

I don’t want families to end up in the ER after birth like I did, or to struggle with PMAD alone for years before training in something to finally put a name to what’s been going on within yourself. I don’t want families to have to go through hoops for help or spend years waiting for answers if I can provide them in one space. I want families to feel prepared, supported, and thrive. That is why I became a doula and so much more. That is why I partner with experts for virtual education events and host courses. Happy #doulaweek to all the #birthdoulas #postpartumdoula and #momtobe ❤️
🚨 Do you love having frozen berries on-hand for 🚨 Do you love having frozen berries on-hand for simple smoothie solutions during pregnancy for better pregnancy nutrition, for postpartum hydration and nutrient replenishment, or for hiding greens in your toddler’s daily “treats”? Check your frozen strawberries ASAP then share this post to help a friend! 🚨⤵️

‼️ The FDA has discovered a link between some frozen strawberries and a Hepatitis A outbreak! Check the FDA website for more details on specific brands & “Best By” dates (some are Trader Joes, some Costco, some others) and @prenatalnutritionist for more info ‼️

When you get that self-care routine down 🥰 Try When you get that self-care routine down 🥰 Try some of these facial massage techniques with your skincare routine to reduce tension and let me know how it goes!

#ad I found RetinAll Daily Serum by @serovital Beauty at @costco and it’s been a staple in my evening skincare routine while the kids take a bath since. It’s never been sold in Costco before! RetinAll Daily Serum visibly lifts sagging skin, noticeably brightens, and improves the appearance of wrinkles and elasticity. Retinol formulas can be drying and irritating, but this hydrating retinoid is
different -super important for my dry postpartum skin! In fact, in a clinical study, 100% of participants had no irritation.

Right now, it’s just $35 for two bottles, which is an insanely good deal. Don’t miss it – run to Costco now!

Are you team yay or nay when it comes to wipe warm Are you team yay or nay when it comes to wipe warmers? Wipe warmers are a multi-use favorite of mine so they’re my share today for baby items you can use long after your baby outgrows diapers (if taken care of). You obviously need to be careful not to contaminate all wipes in the container with each use BUT I am a huge fan of warmers (keep reading for a list on why).

I’m always the odd one out when I recommend them (I say skip the crib and get the warmer 🤫) because YOU CANNOT SPOIL A BABY but you can offer kindness and warmth as they adjust to this new to them world. And, it’s OK if you don’t have it when not at home (though they make travel ones) or all the time, it’s still a kindness that makes a difference when at home. A good wipe warmer (not all are great) can:

-Help with nighttime diaper changes (less wakings when you really need to address a blowout)

-Be less jarring than a cold wipe in winter

-Be useful for getting really sticky poo off babies or tots (even potty learning older kiddos, just don’t flush the wipes)

-Are nice for after meal hand or face wiping if needed…

-Come in handy when cleaning eyes for conjunctivitis (different corners and water only wipes)

-Work with disposable or reusable wipes

-Doubles as a washcloth/ towel warmer for the bathroom when no longer needed for just diapers to help with mini self-care sessions or makeup removal

What are some things you would add to this list? Did I convince you? 😂 If you need help creating a baby registry cuatom to your family’s unique needs, swnd me a DM! It’s a service I love to offer using my experience as a mom to 5, postpartum educator & doula, and lactation counselor ❤️

Baby stacking toys can be wonderful for practicing Baby stacking toys can be wonderful for practicing baby’s core strength and coordination when they are starting to sit but did you know they’re also perfect for playing horseshoe and ring toss?!

I’m a HUGE fan of extending the use of baby items by coming up with new uses so this was a lot of fun- and worked out really well for Wes’ Wild One or Wild Wes(t) first birthday party! All the details about his birthday party are available via the link in my bio. Trust me, you’ll want to check it out 😍
